Karol Sobczuk on the creation of the brand
Sewing has been a part of my life since childhood. As a kid, I played a lot of football, but the balls I used would wear out quickly, so I learned to repair them. At the age of thirteen, I would take apart damaged footballs, patch them, and sew them back together so that the stitching was invisible. I even repaired balls for my friends on the field. To this day, I carry scars on my hands from those times.
As a teenager, I bought a scooter that needed a new seat. I took my mom's old sewing machine and my sister's leather jacket to create a seat that looked like the original. My sister still reminds me that I ruined her best leather jacket.
During my school years, I received a Bible as a gift. I decided to make a case for it, using an old jacket from a second-hand shop. These Bible cases became popular, and I began sewing them for friends.
It was then that I dreamed of producing luxury leather goods. Thanks to the experience I gained from sewing Bible cases, I landed a job over 300 kilometers from home, in a small village in central Poland. I moved there and began my journey in leather craftsmanship. During this time, I started collecting tools and my first machines, which allowed me to make bags for my first clients.
I worked for several leathergoods companies in Poland, eventually ending up in London. In London, I opened my own business, rented a small wooden shed, and devoted myself entirely to production. I spent four years there, learning alongside British leather craftsmen.
The time came to return to Poland. I returned to the place where I had repaired footballs as a child. But now, I brought with me the experience of running a business and producing luxury leather goods.
Today, the brand I run is thriving, gaining recognition and a growing base of loyal customers around the world.

Being truly cool is possible even in the Polish countryside. The leather goods created by Karol Sobczuk achieve a level of sophistication we couldn’t possibly keep from you.
“Sewing has been with me since childhood,” says Karol Sobczuk. His memories of those early beginnings of his craft are particularly amusing. At first, he repaired damaged balls for himself and his teammates, doing it in such a way that the stitches were invisible from the outside. “I still have scars on my hands from that time.” Later, as a teenager, he acquired a moped that needed new upholstery. He sat down at his mother’s old sewing machine and made it from his sister’s best leather jacket. To this day, the designer still hears about it. While in technical school, he made Bible covers from the same material (this was in a small town in eastern Poland), and by the end of school, his plan was born: to produce luxury leather goods.
He worked while learning in several leatherworking studios, completed a leathercraft course, trained in England, and then began developing his own brand: Sobczuk Leather Goods. Each item, whether a wallet, a tote bag, a women’s handbag, or a men’s weekend travel bag, is exquisite: entirely handcrafted from Tuscan leather and formally aligned with the latest trends. Most importantly, however, they are unique.
“Created for people who know what they want and prioritize quality, whether in their professional daily lives or while doing grocery shopping,” Sobczuk says. After spending four years in London, the designer opened his leather workshop in 2022 in Siedliska Drugie, near Lublin.
“Classical elegance, and especially interior architecture, are sources of inspiration for me. With furniture, I often pay attention to the stitching or shapes, and I try to translate that into my leather goods. Sometimes I just imagine something, sketch it, and then sew it. There are no rules in this.”
Is this approach typical of Poland, known for its excellent craftsmanship? What does your fashion scene look like? “It’s diverse. We can combine Slavic traditions with innovations, which leads to unique, Polish products.
We have many distinctive colors and patterns that often appear in fashion designs. Many successful Polish designers draw from our history.” According to Sobczuk, his own mentality is also a source of inspiration: “We love craftsmanship. Over the past seven years, the mindset of my compatriots has changed. They are more willing to invest in high-quality products that last for years.”
The Weekender bag costs over 1,000 euros. “These are the highest-quality leathers in their class. The metal elements come from Italy, the Czech Republic, and even Germany. The zippers are supplied by Italians or Swiss manufacturers, and the lining materials are from Poland,” the designer explains.
Sobczuk is close to hiring his first employees but isn’t rushing. His goal is quality, not quantity. In addition to designing and production, he also handles the restoration of his leather products. Then there’s sales, photo shoots, and brand building… “I love it! I don’t like monotony.”
